Food Cupboard Coordinator
Adopted by the Food Cupboard Committee January 17, 2005; amended March 27, 2006
The Current River Churches’ Food Cupboard Committee appoints the Food Cupboard Coordinator for a two-year term.
To be considered for appointment, at least one years previous experience with the Current River Churches Food Cupboard as a volunteer or Committee member; and a reference from the clergy or lay official of the church congregation that the candidate is a member of, or official of a community group that the candidate is a member of are required.
The Coordinator is responsible to the Committee for the safe storage of food; fair treatment of clients, including equitable distribution of food; and training, coordination and supervision of Food Cupboard volunteers.
The Coordinator is a non-voting member of the Committee, and will ensure that it is kept informed about problems and accomplishments of the Food Cupboard including reporting on who is volunteering.
The Coordinator is a signing officer.
The Coordinator will hold a key for St. Stephen’s and be responsible for the security of the building when Food Cupboard volunteers use it.
The Coordinator is the initial point of contact in case St. Stephen’s has problems with the Food Cupboard, and the Chair is the secondary point of contact.
The Coordinator is an official spokesperson for the Food Cupboard.
Any information learned about clients as a result of volunteering for the Current River Churches Food Cupboard is to be kept confidential, including who accesses the Food Cupboard.
The Food Cupboard Coordinator:
1. Orients new volunteers and goes over the ministry description with her/him;
2. Trains and supervises volunteers;
3. Ensures that volunteers keep the areas for food storage and food repackaging clean and tidy;
4. In consultation with the Grocery Purchaser, maintains an inventory list of food to be kept on hand, which maintains a balanced diet;
5. Coordinates the purchase and delivery of food by the Grocery Purchaser;
6. Coordinates the delivery of food donations to St. Stephen’s;
7. Sends thank you letters for food donations;
8. Phones in bread order on Sunday evening and arranges for it to be delivered on Monday morning;
9. Coordinates volunteers who will repackage food weekly at an agreed time;
10. Schedules one Registrar, one Food Distributor and one or two Helpers for Tuesday mornings;
11. Gives the web master monthly statistics, who will e-mail them and update the Food Cupboard web page;

Ensures that the Chair, Treasurer or Secretary receives any mail for them
delivered to
St. Stephen’s;
13.
Works with the Food Cupboard Treasurer to ensure that any donations
received at
St. Stephen’s are properly accounted for and deposited;
14. Submits an report at each meeting of the Committee and an annual report; and
15. Completes any other duties that are agreed to at a Committee meeting.
The Coordinator reports
to the Committee and consults with the Chair about issues in between meetings.
If an issue needs to be addressed by the Committee, the Chair will either poll
the Committee or call a meeting.
In the event of the
Coordinator acting in an inappropriate manner, the Chair should meet with him or
her.
In the event that it can’t be resolved or if it is serious, the matter will be
taken to the Food Cupboard Committee.
The appointment as the Coordinator may be discontinued by the Committee for not carrying out the responsibilities and duties of the Coordinator.
