Food Repackager

Appointment

The Food Cupboard Coordinator appoints people to repackage food.

Responsibility

A group of people gather at St. Stephen’s to repackage food on weekly at an agreed time, after bulk food is purchased: rice, flour, sugar, powered milk, etc.

Any information learned about clients as a result of volunteering for the Current River Churches Food Cupboard is to be kept confidential.

Duties

The Food Repackagers:

  1. Washes their hands with bacterial soap and wears gloves;
  2. Assembles food with laundry soap being done separately and not stored with food;
  3. Measures food as to quantity, usually 1 ½ cups sugar, powdered milk, rice flour, puts food in zip lock bag, and marks bag with date, contents and quantity; and
  4. Cleans up area and utensils and throws out gloves.

Supervision

The Food Cupboard Coordinator is the Food Repackager’s supervisor.
