Grocery Purchaser
Adopted by the Food Cupboard Committee January 17, 2005
The Food Cupboard Committee appoints a Grocery Purchaser and an Alternate Grocery Purchaser.
To be considered for appointment, at least one years previous experience with the Current River Churches Food Cupboard as a volunteer or Committee member, and a reference from the clergy or lay official of the church congregation that the candidate is a member of, or official of a community group that the candidate is a member of are required.
The Grocery Purchaser will hold $200 in petty cash. Upon the appointment of the Grocery Purchaser ending, the $200 is to be returned to the Food Cupboard Treasurer.
In the event that the Grocery Purchaser is unavailable to carry out his or her duties, or at the request of the Grocery Purchaser, the Alternate Grocery Purchaser fulfills the duties of the Grocery Purchaser.
Any information learned about clients as a result of volunteering for the Current River Churches Food Cupboard is to be kept confidential.
The Grocery Purchaser:
1. Purchases items as requested by the Food Cupboard Coordinator, being mindful of quantity limits or multiples needed for the best prices;
2. Delivers groceries to the Food Cupboard location or another location as directed by the Coordinator, and the Coordinator or another person designated by the Coordinator shall check the purchases against the receipt and initial the receipt; and
3. To replenish the petty cash, gives the receipts to the Treasurer who will issue a cheque in the amount of the receipts.
The Coordinator is the Grocery Purchaser’s supervisor.
In the event of the Grocery Purchaser acting in an inappropriate manner, the Coordinator should meet with him or her. In the event that it can’t be resolved or if it is serious, the matter will be taken to the Food Cupboard Committee.
The appointment as the Grocery Purchaser may be discontinued by the Coordinator for not carrying out the responsibilities and duties of the Grocery Purchaser.
