The Food Cupboard Coordinator appoints a person as a Registrar. To be considered for appointment,
at least three month’s previous experience with the Current River Churches Food Cupboard as a volunteer or Committee member; and a reference from the clergy or lay official of the church congregation that the candidate is a member of, or official of a community group that the candidate is a member of, are required.

Responsibilities

The Registrar greets clients, screens them in a caring manner according to the policy set by the Food Cupboard Committee and records client information.

One Registrar is on duty each Tuesday.

Any information learned about clients as a result of volunteering for the Current River Churches Food Cupboard is to be kept confidential, including who accesses the Food Cupboard.

Registration cards are stored in a locked box at St. Stephen’s.

Duties

The Registrar:

1.        Asks for identification and proof of current address;

2.        Creates or updates client registration card listing their current address, name, number and ages of children, if any, identification shown and proof of current address;

3.        Writes on the back of the registration card the date the client accesses the Food Cupboard;

Supervision

The Coordinator is the Registrar’s supervisor.

With respect to an immediate situation with a client, the Registrar can consult with the Food Distributor.

In the event of the Registrar acting in an inappropriate manner, the Coordinator should meet with him or her. In the event that it can’t be resolved or if it is serious, the matter will be taken to the Food Cupboard Committee.

The appointment as the Registrar may be discontinued by the Coordinator for not carrying out the responsibilities and duties of the Registrar, and the Coordinator will consult with the Chair prior to taking this action. This decision may be appealed to the Food Cupboard Committee.
