Ministry Description - Youth Worker
The Youth Worker should be an adult, baptized and regularly attend St. Stephen the Martyr Anglican Church. It is helpful that the Youth Worker have some knowledge of Anglican worship, completed the Learning Guide to the Christian Faith in the Anglican Tradition, and been confirmed.
She or he should be interested in the Christian development of youth and be comfortable working with youth.
The candidate must complete a criminal record check, and the criminal record check must be redone every five years. If the candidate has been a member of the parish for less than one year, he or she must provide two references who are not family members and who can comment on the person’s character and suitability to work with youth.
The Incumbent appoints the Youth Worker for a one-year term, from September to September. The Youth Worker is member of Parish Council.
The Youth Worker’s role is to get to know the youth in the parish, involve them in the life of the parish, ex. Liturgical ministry, social and fund-raising events, act as a resource to help youth plan and run parish youth activities, and encourage the youth to involved in deanery and diocesan youth activities. The Youth Worker should build relationships with parents and be involved in parish activities.

The Youth Worker is under the direction of the Incumbent.
The Incumbent and Church Wardens may discontinue the appointment as the Youth Worker for not carrying out the responsibilities and duties of the Youth Worker or inappropriate behaviour with a youth or parishioner.
